Two of my favourite challenge blogs are teaming up this month, OUAS and Berry71Bleu. The sketch is a beauty from Nadia, who has just welcome home her third gorgeous daughter - congrats Nadia! Also part\ of the OUAS challenge - include journaling and numbers... Berry71Bleu's challenge this month is to use chipboard.
Both blogs attract a lot of competition from super talented ladies and I love seeing what everyone comes up with.
I followed the sketch pretty closely and had a blast using the splendid Maja papers. Also used some fun bling from both ZVA Creative and FWAB, and chipboard from Jenny Bowlin and Magenta. The buttons were a mix from my stash, and the numbers are "3" for my son's third birthday, and the stamped date for July 27 when the photo was taken.
For those who pay attention... the 2 Wheels title is not really wrong. This was my boy's first "big bike" and the training wheels came off very fast:-)

This is such a lovely sketch that I intend to use it for a few more layouts. Perfectly suits my style and works really great with MME papers, which is what I have used for my take on it. I see it working really well with TC papers too. My ZVA bling

<![CDATA[MME April Sketch Challenge]]>Wed, 01 May 2013 04:39:45 GMThttp://www.wellcraftedhome.com/1/post/2013/04/mme-april-sketch-challenge.html Picture
The beautiful sketch from this month's sketch on the MME blog was perfect to scrap a photo from our Chicago trip, and I thought it would be fun for a change to use a soft pink and grey palette. Plus I broke into my MME brad stash - usually I hoard them!

<![CDATA[C'est Magnifique April Sketch]]>Tue, 30 Apr 2013 21:33:05 GMThttp://www.wellcraftedhome.com/1/post/2013/04/cest-magnifique-april-sketch.html
Totally forgot that I have not added my layout to the April Sketch Challenge over at the C'est Magnifique blog. I loved using the beautiful Maja papers, and the fantastic chipboard from the kits. I am so happy I decided to subscribe, these are the best kits ever!
What is becoming painfully apparent is my need to get a better setup for pics. I love my Ott light for work but trying to take pics in the evening results in terrible shots.

<![CDATA[Kaisercraft April Saturday Sketch Challenge #3]]>Tue, 30 Apr 2013 06:52:57 GMThttp://www.wellcraftedhome.com/1/post/2013/04/kaisercraft-april-saturday-sketch-challenge-3.html
I have been wanting to play along with Kaisercraft's Saturday challenges for ever and a day. I love their superb papers and their design team creations are the most inspirational around, bar none. Problem is, getting a hold of their papers in Canada is, well, a problem. Very few - if any stores carry them and when they do it is a really limited selection. Given how many collections they release annually and how many embellishments they make, you would think it would be easy to source Kaisercraft. Wrong!!

Anyway, at Crop and Create one of the stores on location had a few papers and embellies, which I gladly snapped up. Then April was mostly a horrible month and once again I was going to miss out on playing along, but on the last day at midnight I said to myself, "you can't miss this challenge again" and set out to complete at least one layout.

So here it is... Enjoy Life's Moments, which is a super happy layout from our trip to Chicago in July 2011.
Below is the beautiful sketch from Kaisercraft's blog.

<![CDATA[Kraft It Up April Challenge]]>Thu, 04 Apr 2013 03:32:38 GMThttp://www.wellcraftedhome.com/1/post/2013/04/kraft-it-up-april-challenge.html
I have been meaning to play in these challenges for-evar... and of course in the middle of my first attempt my laptop / wifi / internet connection went on the fritz - maybe one of them or all of them, who knows, and I had the worst week symptom-wise in months so all in all it was very quiet for a while. Fortified with coffee and numerous painkillers I somehow managed to log on tonight - although the reality is the computer is afraid of hubby so all he had to do was turn on a beady eye. Truth, I swear... but let's not question good things when they happen and just enjoy them, right?
So... The Kraft It Up Challenge for April was simple:
This month we want to recycle some of that product packaging and use it on your layout, the only must have is that you use Kraft Cardstock or Kraft Patterned Paper! I used the musical notes packaging from a Pink Paislee package of chipboard buttons (I think it was London Market), and so glad I saved it - but then I tend to save everything that looks remotely interesting.
I was glad to finally dig into this patriotic Pebbles collection (Let Freedom Ring) - I love it but it has been difficult to scrap with, until I figured that our trips to the US are perfectly suited for these papers. And the colors - just stunning! Most of the backgrounds are Kraft so I will probably use this one again for the KIU challenge:-).
I had a few cute krafty pockets in my stash so I used one for m tickets to the architectural river tour and my hop on hop off double decker tour - we have lovely memories of both.
One of my challenges seems to be that I save all sorts of ephemera from the trip and they rarely fit on a page... will have to start creating pockets at the back of albums to store travel memorabilia

<![CDATA[Scrap the Boys Challenge]]>Thu, 04 Apr 2013 03:18:19 GMThttp://www.wellcraftedhome.com/1/post/2013/04/scrap-the-boys-challenge.html
Despite the fact that the picture came out too dark (blame the seriously sad weather we have had recently) this layout made me smile because it shows my son's two very different faces - his little angel smile and the mischievous side of him, both captured within two minutes.
I made it for the March Challenge over at Scrap the Boys, and here are the requirements:
This month your challenge is to create a layout using these base requirements, you can add other items but these must be used...

2 Photos 6x4 or smaller - did so
Chipboard - Magenta tree ornaments
Washi Tape - wrapped the presents with 7Gypsies tape and even made a bow on top - that was a bit of a project
Mists/Paints - gessoed then painted the chipboard then heat embossed the design on them. I mixed the Bo Bunny Blitzen collection (older but a huge fave of mine) with Core'dinations, embossed with snowflakes,

<![CDATA[Second Layout Imaginisce March Challenge]]>Mon, 25 Mar 2013 04:24:45 GMThttp://www.wellcraftedhome.com/1/post/2013/03/second-layout-imaginisce-march-challenge.htmlThis was such a fun birthday collection and I had a ton of pics from the 7th birthday party so I decided to make a second layout for the March Imaginisce Challenge. I changed the sketch around a bit using three pics instead of one but respected the spirit...

<![CDATA[Imaginisce March Challenge]]>Mon, 25 Mar 2013 04:22:01 GMThttp://www.wellcraftedhome.com/1/post/2013/03/imaginisce-march-challenge.htmlNot feeling great after our little jaunt skiing (OK, the guys skied and I scrapped but still) so it took a few days to get back into the swing of it. Happily joined a local paper crafting group and attended my first group event. So awesome to connect with people who "get it". Should have done this a long time ago.
Anyway.. this is my first layout for the Imaginisce March challenge - use green, the word Lucky, the sketch and a chipboard embellie. I am also entering it in the Southern Girls' Blog Challenge - the theme this time is The Kids Are Alright.

<![CDATA[7th Birthday]]>Wed, 20 Mar 2013 02:27:08 GMThttp://www.wellcraftedhome.com/1/post/2013/03/7th-birthday.html
Loved the party at home and the kids had a great time. I could not come up with a GoGos cake so I took a shortcut - bought a nice chocolate cake, put the Gogos on top and called it a day. The kids had a blast and had a game of road hockey in the driveway... lots of fun. This is my final entry into the March die cut challenge over at the My Mind's Eye blog:-
